DVD Roundup: Leave the children! edition

How can a film go from being kind of interesting to infuriatingly shit so suddenly? And how can a character saving a bus full of school kids be so anger inducing? Maybe its because its just so terribly predictable. The sequel the hugely popular 1997 original, Independence Day: Resurgence was the follow up nobody asked for, and made the mistake of following the same beats of the original, just with none of the humour and charisma (Will Smith has been killed off for this film). While there are some OK parts that make it watchable, Resurgence is unfortunately a shadow of the first movie. Hear our full review in the player below.

Admittedly, The Secret Life of Pets had a funny teaser trailer, and we all knew it was going to be popular with kids and adults who love cute animals (every adult??). However, judging that Illumination Entertainments last film was Minions, a very hit and miss film that suffered from an inane irritability and placating to its grown up fan base too much(hell, a lot of adults I knew didn't even get the Hair references), The Secret Life of Pets is wide open.

This Greek comedy is for all you men out there that maybe take your competitiveness a little bit too far sometimes. Chevalier sees 6 men go on a fishing trip, partake in some weird games, and then let things get a little bit weirder and more violent when they start letting their masculine pride get in the way.

Are you still playing Pokemon Go? Did you enjoy Richee Pokemon nuzlocke journals? Then this one is for you, as the first three Pokemon movies are being re-released, and in a limited edition steelbook, nonetheless. Included is the imaginatively titled Pokemon: The First Movie, Pokemon the Movie 2000, and Pokemon 3: The Movie. So if you want to see a badly animated anime look slightly better, then these are for you.

To say my obsession with Game of Thrones was sudden would be an understatement. From being indifferent about the first episode (despite it containing one of my favourite scenes), I've become a zealot for the series. Despite the fifth season having some slightly slow episode, when they were good, they were very good. Now, I'm really excited for season 6, and considering that two episodes currently stand at having a 9.9 on IMDb, you know its going to be good.
