THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN - podcast review out now

The remakes have run amuck this, and now its the turn of the Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen 1960 classic The Magnificent Seven (itself a remake of the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai). Antoine Fuqua's version includes a much more diverse cast seeking revenge on behalf of a bereaved widower (Haley Bennett), after her small town is threatened by a gold mine owner (Peter Sarsgaard). Also starring the likes of Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Byung-Hun Lee and Ethan Hawke, we see how this version of The Magnificent Seven plays up against other contemporary Westerns, plus we discuss the strengths and weakness of the cast and its storytelling.
