From Dusk Till Dawn Pilot Review

So Robert Rodriguez has decided to create a Netflix series of his 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn which starred George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino as the Gecko brothers. The Gecko brothers are on the run from the law and happen to run into a bar full of vampires. The series is a take on the original, this time starring D.J Cotrona and Zane Holtz as the Gecko brothers. There have been a few more characters shoved in and Richie Gecko seems to be able to see demons rather then just being a nut bag. Not alot was explained in the pilot though. Jesse Garcia is also new addition playing a Texas ranger who ends up promising to kill the Gecko's no matter what it takes. Alot of the dialogue from the original is shoe horned in to make D.J Cotrona's Seth seem as charismatic as George Clooney's; unfortunately though it doesn't work. So going on the pilot episode alone I don't think it's looking good for this series. The whole episode felt dragged out, fitting the first ten minutes of the film into a forty-five minute episode. With pointless back stories and some rather lame scenes which brings nothing to the series and the demons/vampires (whatever they are) look terrible. Even though Robert Rodriguez directed this pilot it still felt very bland, a badly rehashed remake of a great film, so here's hoping the series gets better but rating the first episode I'd give this a 3/10. It was bad. The acting was nowhere near to the standard you'd expect, and it felt along way of the original. Richee

Also found this bad ass From Dusk Till Dawn poster done in the style of Dawn of the Dead, don't forget to check out other blogs and the podcast.
