I am cynical and not very excited

The Independent has reported that James Cameron is not making the anticipated two Avatar sequels, but is in fact making THREE sequels. They will all be shot at the same time and be released at CHRISTMAS in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

'"In writing the new films, I've come to realize that Avatar's world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated," Cameron said in a statement. "It became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen,"' he said. (quoted from The Independent)

Wow. He was obviously watching a different film to me, because all I remember was 3 hours pissed down the drain watching nine foot blue hippies and dubious scientific theories (spoken in all seriousness!) by obnoxious and insolent Americans. I think the biggest thing to remember about this is that Avatar was the largest grossing film of all time, taking $2.8 billion worldwide. When Mr Cameron says the story is even richer than he anticipated, I'm sure he means him and film company will be richer than ever. Two films will never be enough, because three will make you more money. And don't forget, you'll be watching it in 3D people! By 2016, a 3D cinema ticket will be at least twenty-five quid.

Sorry if I sound cynical, but this story angered me because it is an obvious money making exploit. All I can hope is that 3D TV's are cheap enough by this point and that no-one will watch it in the cinema and instead wait for Channel 4 for stage a mega half-day special to the Avatar films.
