Richee's thoughts on Legion - episode 1

Mmmmmm Dan Stevens... I like me some Dan Stevens. Then when you put him in an X-men franchise you have my full attention. Dan Stevens plays David Haller, an omega level mutant who has been locked away from mankind in a psychiatric hospital, or so we are led to beleive. Things change for David when he meets another patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). They start a relationship, then on the day Syd is cleared from the hospital, a kiss between the two leads to another patients death.

The first episode is David telling the story of what happened to some shady authority figure, whose trying to figure out what happened. The show itself was very interesting and colourful, and left me wanting more. I was surprised how much we got in the first episode, as I thought there were plenty of chances to end the show and leave us guessing, but it chose to conclude the first part of the story rather then leaving us on a cliff hangar.
I'm not overly knowledgeable about this X-men story ark. I was aware David was the son of Charles Xavier and Moira MacTargert, but I thought he was isolated in Ireland, hooked up to a virtual reality type system to protect himself and every one around him. Of course, he then breaks out, and it's up to the X-men and Xavier to defeat David by ending his life. (At least that's what I think happened, I'm probably super wrong).

But the show was interesting and I'm looking forward to the second episode. It has a lot of promise and plenty of interesting characters to pluck from the X-men universe. I'm glad to see some one else doing something with X-men, hopefully they can do more TV shows featuring the X-men characters/lore, it would seem anything X-men could be good. Just make sure Brian Singer isn't connected to it in anyway. Richee
