Richees Fifty Shades of Black (2016) - Review

So when Fifty Shades of Grey hit in early 2015, it was ripe for parodying. The film was so laughably bad, surely anything spoofing it would have enough material to make a hilarious interpretation. So, up steps Marlon Wayans, who made the last of the decent spoof films, in my opinion, with the first two Scary Movie films.

The story follows that of Hannah Steale (Kali Hawk), a student who falls for stalker businessman Christian Black (Marlon Wayans). The relationship is a strained one, as Hannah struggles to understand Christian's fetishes and controlling nature. The film also spoofs Whiplash and Magic Mike.
So this film is the basic bitch of spoof movies. Not the worst I've seen, but no where near good. The film got a few laughs from me early on, with Hannah doing the lip-bite-breaking-her-mirror mockery, to a perfectly timed prat fall by Christian. This film also has repetitive, unfunny jokes, with Hannah trying to push open a pull door, to Christian having a micro penis, which has been done to death and just isn't funny or shocking anymore.

There were a couple more funny scenes, with Christian losing the keys to his handcuffs was a particularly good one. However, I think I laughed more at Fifty Shades of Grey then I did here, which isn't shocking, because Fifty Shades of Grey was god awful. Honestly though, there is nothing new or clever here. The film is just what you think it will be. More jokes miss then hit, and I wouldn't recommend you waste your time with this. Final verdict: 3/10 - it's a bad film, which could have done more with the content it was spoofing. Richee
