DVD ROUNDUP: FOUR PART TRILOGY EDITION

Finally, the last part of The Hunger Games franchise if out now to own with the convolutely titled The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. While Mockingjay - Part 1 was all build up, Part 2 finally gives us an ending to arguably one of the most influential film franchises of the past decade. While there has been rumours of a Hunger Games prequel, lets all just the end of this series and its great story. Listen to our podcast review in the player below.

Danny Boyle created a very theatrical film in his telling of some key moments in Steve Jobs life. The whole cast a great job, especially as this is a very talky film. The dialogue is excellent, and provides a fairly balanced portrayal of this controversial figure. Listen to our review in the player below.

After so many duds lately, Johnny Depp makes an effort to portray a truly engaging and nasty character as real life gang boss James Bulger. With a great cast, Black Mass is brilliantly acted, if only slightly typical of the crime thriller genre. Check out our review in the player below.

One of the most celebrated films of last year, Carol was heralded for its LGBTQ-theme's, as well as its costuming and directing. Based on the ground breaking book The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, Carol has been added to my ever growing list of films I need to watch.

Maybe Pixar's The Good Dinosaur was released a bit too soon after the extremely well accepted Inside Out, and the almost simplistic film was little too basic too the psychological lesson that was Inside Out. But still, its a Pixar film, its not going to be awful. I'll defiantly watch it if it comes my way.
