His Mortdecai Review (2015)

So Mortdecai was released earlier in the year, looking like just another vehicle for Johnny Depp to act silly in. So when it got released it didn't get the best reviews and went by kind of unnoticed, but now it's on Netflix I thought I might as well check it out to see if it was as bad as suggested.

So the story revolves around the title character Mortdecai, who is trying to get him self out of debt. When a known terrorist steals a painting Mortdecai is brought on board to help M.I.5 locate the lost Goya with his under ground connections. Unfortunately there our other groups chasing after the painting, from a Russian mob boss to an American art collector.
So Johnny Depp as Mortdecai is silly, but not unbearable and he works really well off his man servant Jock, played brilliantly by Paul Bettany. The really strong supporting cast include Ewan McGregor, Jeff Goldblum and Gwyneth Paltrow. The rolling jokes of Mortdecai's tache, Jocks womanising and Dmitri obsession with balls didn't get old and raised a few chuckles through out.

Final verdict a 6/10: an above average comedy with a few funny moments and a good cast. The story rolls on well even if it is a bit ludicrous. The highlight for me was Mortdecai's response to a hotel receptionist's asking if he needed help with his bags.

Massive thanks for checking out my review and supporting the blog. Hope you have an awesome Christmas and a groovy new year. Richee
